There is an amazing amount of confusion regarding financial and investment management fees. So much in fact I recently created a white paper to illustrate apples to apples the TOTAL cost of investment management from financial advisors who recommend mutual fund managed portfolios. Keep in mind – this has NO BEARING on commission based advisors as their compensation is completely different and based on investment product sales vs. ongoing portfolio management. It also has limited relevancy to “fee-based financial advisor” firms – as a large part of their compensation may be based on commissions.
